State-of-the-art RFID technology (Radio Frequency IDentification)
The PlexiDor Electronic dog door uses state-of-the art RFID collar (Radio Frequency IDentification) technology. The sensor reads the pre-programmed code to automatically open and close the door. Only dogs wearing a programmed collar key are allowed through the door and all other animals are forced to stay outside.
The collar key is waterproof and weighs only 0.4 ounces. It is worn on the dog’s collar and snaps into place. The dog door is triggered by the collar key as the animal approaches the door. The length of time the panel stays open can be adjusted to fit your needs. The PlexiDor electronic dog door plugs into a standard household power outlet or can be hardwired. It is easy to program and even easier to use. An authorized installer will measure to ensure proper fit and installation can usually be completed within 45 minutes. I’ve had the PlexiDor Electronic Dog Door- wall mounted for over 10 years. I’ve had a few issues over the years that were all handled by their incredible tech staff immediately. A phone number you can call and real person to talk to can walk you through the issue if needed. Every issue was resolved by the well-built design functionality or some cleaning that I should have done sooner. Can’t recommend this product more. Worth every penny.

People don’t understand how profoundly this thing changes your life. If you have a fenced-in back yard, this makes taking good care of most dogs as easy as taking care of a housecat. Yes they still like walks, but you can walk your dog when you want to walk your dog around, not when their biology demands. No more accidents in the house. City or robbery-prone neighborhood? No problem. I’ve had dogs who wouldn’t snout open a flap door, yet another problem solved by the RFID. For many if not most dog owners, this thing totally transforms your daily living. We had one installed in the back kitchen wall in our city row house, used it 6 years, sold the house with the door-yard combo as a huge draw for pet owners. This is not my first electric dog door. But it is my favorite. I have five dogs from a 100 pound lab down to a 25 pound corgi, and they all use it. Sometimes they are even kind enough to let in the cat ( which doesn’t have a collar). So it would not surprise me if my door opened 50 times a day. So with all this use there is bound to be a few repairs. And i have had to call plexidor 3 times i think in 3-4 years that i have had it. And every time even the day after thanksgiving it was a pleasant troubleshooting call. They make you feel like your door and pets are the most important thing that gets done today. Takes a Liki’n and keeps on Ticki’n! – We have had this electronic door since about 2013. Granted, it was a little more expensive than some lesser quality units, but oh my gosh, it turns out this is a super quality engineered electronic dog door, designed to last. We have two 120 lb Broholmer dogs who don’t have the patients to wait for the door to go all the way up before attempting an exit. Each time they go in and out (about 10 -20 times a day) I think they are going to rip the unit right out of our garage door, but not so. I am beginning to think the PlexiDor is most likely indestructible, definitely built tough to last. If for any reason I ever had to replace this door, I would have none other than a PlexiDor. As for customer service, Bill and Diedre have been wonderful whenever I have had a question ton those rare times I needed help to troubleshoot an issue – just good old fashioned excellent personal customer service which is in short supply these days. I’ve been using PlexiDor electronic doors for probably 15 years.
These things mean freedom for our dogs and peace of mind for owners. For years now, my dogs come and go as they please. No rushing home to take them out, no worrying about wildlife coming in through an unsecure flap. It’s even weather sealed. Oh, and there are no batteries to replace unlike some competitors I could name.
The company is lovely, responsive (even in the midst of a hurricane!), and bends over backward to help. I’ve used their support a handful of times and they have – every time – been lovely and supportive and stood behind their product.

We installed our electronic pet door in 2017. It has been in constant use over these 6 years with as many as 7 dogs all wearing RFID tags. This door has been a Godsend for us. It gets used even in the middle of the night. What a relief not to get woken up for a midnight potty request anymore! For all this time and use, we have only recently have had some intermittent issues with our door. I’ve had this door for a LOOOOONG time now. We purchased it in 2011. its an absolute lifesaver. We had some issues initially but it turned out the culprit was the poor power grid in my town. We got a power conditioner and BAM! Door is great. Whenever we need service, they always come through. Build quality and functionality is excellent.

Did 3 months of research on which dog door company to go with, choose PlexiDor and have the Electronic door model since 2012. Has been the best investment I have made. The company produced a high quality door and accessories, customer is top notch because they are extremely helpful and do care that you have a working dog door. Would like to share some points on owning & operating Electronic door model. One, depending on the number of dogs/cats etc. example here is for one dog. I purchased three (3) RFID Key Collars. Because one for collar worn at home all times inside/on property but never outside the house/off property. This way it cannot get lost on walks etc. But You Must Put Up A Sign At The Exit & Entrance Door To Remind You To Change Out Collars!!! Otherwise You Will Forget To Do So & Pet Will Be In Trouble If You Forget & Leave. After A Good While You May Want To Take Down The Sign Because Now It Becomes Second Nature To Change Out Collars. Please Trust Me On This Tip!! After 10 years I have forgotten only two times and fortunately returned in two hours, weather conditions were Fall and my dog was okay. But who knows if weather conditions were Summer Time here in Texas.
Two, second one is for me to have to test the door to make sure the antenna signal and door is working properly.
Three, third is spare.
Purchase a power battery backup unit just in case of fire and temporary electric outage. But remember power battery backup has limited time before power goes out too. Regardless of all the final backup is that the dog should have some outdoor backup protection like dog house or covered area in case the worst is to happen. That is the dog is caught outside in bad weather, power goes out and cannot get back into the house. I live in Texas so the heat is number one concern to provide cover at bare least just in case something goes South and water next until I return from work etc.
If the initial investment to purchase the Electronic Dog Door, extras, and installation (if you cannot DYI the installation) is scaring you its understandable. But like the old Fram Oil Filter Commercial use to say “Pay me now or Pay me Later”. Your dog will be less likely to develop urinary infections which mean better health and less money at veterinary and if you have to leave say like in my case years ago my parents and aunt die. So my neighbor took care of my dog without having to board her out. Stayed in her home environment with neighbor coming to get here only at night for company to her. Plus cost was very little and she was safe and comfortable at home. Also you will not have to pay for cleaning or replacement of carpets etc. and house will not have that smell.
Simply said PlexiDor Electronic Dog Doors are the best.

My experience with PlexiDor started out with great customer care as I called to learn if this was a good choice for our Samoyed. I was provided with great information to make my decision. I was also directed to a person who was a good selection for the installation of my electronic door. Most importantly, once installed the door worked without fail. Blizzard was able to quickly figure out how to get in and out of the door. It has never failed during the time we remained in the home where it was installed. In the very hot Arizona summers the door did a great job of keeping the heat out. A nice other positive was as we sold our home Everyone who looked at it was amazed and I believe it actually helped us get a quick sale of the home. We are now in another home and starting the process of getting another electronic door in our new home.

Had this door since May 2011. It has been a lifesaver for us. My dog had a medical condition where he needed to pee 5 x at night. It’s expensive but the customer service is 1000 percent worth it. These guys are generous, ethical, and just amazing! My 3 cats and 2 dogs all use this dog with confidence and ease. My door had problems during year 5 of the warranty and after working with me a few times on the phone, they sent me a brand new motor and compartments which is practically a new door. 2021, I needed a new plug and the customer care took care of it right away. When I recently moved, I moved with my Pchlexidor. The cheaper electronic dog doors require a microchip or a magnet which is cumbersome. I love the simple RDIF tag. Definitely worth the investment!!!

The electronic Plexidor has been one of the best purchases I have ever made. I first purchased the door in 2008 but never installed it until 2016 and it worked flawlessly right out of the box. Since that time we have had a few upgrades for my very impatient friends trying to be first out the door. The customer service is amazing, the best service I have ever received, hands down. Deidre is extremely knowledgeable and has been able to troubleshoot any problem that I have encountered over the years. If you are on the fence about making this purchase or which door to buy plexidor is superior to any other product on the market.

I have one of the electronic models I installed back in 2012 thats still running strong in 2021! In that time I have only had 3 technical issues and this unit has been under constant abuse by 3 very impatient dogs (sadly now down to 2). Their warranty support is top tier, and hassle free; these folks stand behind their product. Also their out of warranty support is top tier, and their replacement parts are reasonably priced. I have gotten to speak to a product expert the few times I have had to call in, and each time the call ended in resolution of my issue. Thats a pretty awesome track record for both the product and their support.
If your going to buy an electronic dog door this is your best choice. Youll get every penny back out of your purchase ten times over.

We Love our PlexiDor Electronic Pet Door!! Have had it for over 3 years now. It has been in constant use day & night with our 5 dogs. (4 Teacup Yorkies & a gi-normous male giant schnauzer). So our door has seen probably the worst of use. No problems until just recently – where the door started to cycle up & down several times before finally closing all the way down. I emailed Tech support on Thursday and got a call from Deidre Ambrose the very next day!! That in itself was so amazing – where else do you get to talk with a real person and get such a quick response ??!!!! Anyways, Deidre had me fixed up in less than 15 minutes over the phone. What fantastic tech support! The one thing that PlexoDor could offer dog owners with both small & huge dogs – is a Taller opening Dog Door. The main reason that we decided on purchasing a PlexiDor – was theeir use of RFID collars. Which is a fantastic improvement over other brands. There is no continual batttery ( expensive ) replacements. We owned another brand that had this. What a pain in the neck – let alone the scare or mess of having a pet locked either in or out because his battery died. [ yes, I know, supposed to replace batteries on a schedule so that doesn’t happen – see comment above: a hassle and expensive].

Love my second dog door. When it developed a complicated problem after about six months I was very concerned given the distance to a repair person. Despite a couple of failed attempts , Diedre was wonderful , patient and would do whatever it took to get it back to excellent shape. It truly was a rare and complicated problem but with their help we fixed it and I have no reservations recommending this product to even the remotest situation, (As long as you have phone and mail). I will buy another one if I do happen to move again. Priceless if you have dogs. The customer service truly makes this an exceptional product.

I seldom write reviews as I am old school and believe when you purchase a product, it should work as advertised (which we all know is rare!). However, when a product, and/or their service, exceed my expectations, I am more than happy to tell others. This is the case with my purchase of a PlexiDor Electronic Pet Door. I found PlexiDor in 2012 while searching for doggie door options for my home in Lakewood Ranch, Florida (I had no idea they were located in Bradenton!). I took the plunge on this unique product and it has worked flawlessly for close to eight years! I have a fenced in backyard and I use the “through the wall” version (thru a concrete wall). I have two dogs (Golden Retriever & Black Lab) and they learned to use the door to let themselves out within a day. According to my calculations, over the course of almost 8 years, with two dogs letting themselves out on average 5 times a day, my PlexiDor has opened and closed approximately 29,200 times! It has never failed once, nor have I had to replace any components (I hope I have not jinxed it now)! In addition, their Customer Service is fantastic and they are very responsive to your questions/needs. Trust me when I tell you that you cannot go wrong with this product. The only issue you will have will be your disappointment in not having purchased the PlexiDor Electronic Door sooner!!

I have two electronic plexidors – LOVE them and want a few more for the basement/front entries. Initially I started with flap entry doors – then i had 3 Bichon, then 2 BICHON and 1 standard poodle – now have 8 standard poodles and one Bichon. These doors are great and save me a lot of time and gives the pets freedom to let themselves in/out. Right now, 5 of the poodles are 5 months old pups so they basically fly out of the house on another’s key access – although i have RFId tags for all, do not know if the door’s programming will allow 9 or even 10 as i want another little dog. – am waiting a response to this matter – even a work around …

Delete ALL TAGS Procedure:

The following procedure will only work within 15 seconds after power-up! Read the directions first and then do the steps. You can re-do these steps many times without harm to the unit.
1. Unplug the pet door or power it down by pressing and holding the black power button on the upper right hand side of the pet door frame.
2. Plug in the pet door or push and release the black button to power up the pet door. Wait until you hear the initial power up confirmation beep ( 3 beeps, pause then a 4th beep ) and the blue light flashes ready.
3. PRESS the Program button 5 times in a row then, then you should hear the delete code beeps, then press the button a 6th time and HOLD the PROGRAM button down with the test button
The Time between the 5th and 6th depression time is very short.
4. Finally you will hear a new series of beeps… wait until the beeps stop…. Then you can release the 2 buttons
Your keys have been deleted; you can now reprogram all new and working keys

We have had our electronic door for more than 10 years. Its installation followed the intrusion of a bear into our house through our old X-large dog door. The electronic door totally eliminates that problem because of the collar key entry. The door works phenomenally well. Frankly, with two very active Labs bursting through the door at least 25 to 50 times a day, it is amazing that it has shown the durability it has. This is not to say that we have not had problems but the door technology has improved over that time. What has been most impressive is the Customer Service, notably from Bill Zahn whom I worked with on numerous occasions. Not only has he been great in walking me through things to check and adjust, but he has sent me numerous parts over the years, and many at no cost. This is an outstanding product with a strong support team behind it.

This is an AWESOME dog door solution. We purchased ours in 2011 and it works great. INSTALLATION: I’m not handy so we had a carpenter install the door. It wasn’t a problem for him. We live in an old house so rather than cut the original 1920 door, we bought a door from Home Depot. TRAINING OUR DOGS:: It didn’t take long for our dog to learn how to exit the house and reenter the house. WHY I LIKE IT; Versus a flappy cheap plastic door…this has two major advantages (1). More secure. For a large door, a flappy door can be easily broken into (just crawl in!) where this door would require force and would set up an alarm, and (2). Very weatherproof. The seal is tight, so hot air (summer) and cold air (winter) doesn’t continuously lead in. So there is a comfort and a cost savings factor. DURABILITY: In 7 years (Our dog uses the door about 5x a day, so that is about 13,000 up/downs!) we have had 3 issues. The incredible customer service person (Deidre, who has worked there for about 20 years) is extremely knowledgeable. She walked us through one problem in less that 5 minutes. She helped us fix another problem which took about 20 minutes. And the third issue required a new circuit board which under warranty was free (and out of warranty about $80) and once we received it, took about 15 minutes to install.
My wife and I used to work at Purina for 17 years and 12 years respectively, so we know alot about dogs and cats. Our jusdgement is this door, although costly up front, is very well worth it. Don’t know the life of the door, but I would expect it to be longer than the 7 years we have had it. So if it good for 15 years, it costs about $120/year.

My electronic door has been working great for 3 years, but one of the keys stopped working one day. It looked undamaged, but the other key worked fine and the door tested perfectly.
Customer service was great!! No third degree, they just sent me a replacement key under warranty, shipping fast.
