Q: My patio door has one side hinged and one side fixed. Do you sell replacement patio doors for the fixed side? My door is a Jeldwen, G1408160681619 CW.
A: Paul,
We think our PlexiDor Glass French Door Unit will work with your Jeldwen patio door. Our unit actually replaces the glass insert in your existing patio door. So you don't have to replace the whole door, just the glass insert. We are going to reach out to you by phone to get additional details to be sure of the match.
Sincerely,
Q: Can the door lock/unlock access by pet tag during specific hours (e.g., 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM)? Is this schedule function built into the door hardware, or do we rely on collar/tag to enforce?
A: You can add a timer at the power source, or you could add a power interrupter ( Like A Wemo ) so you can turn the Plexidor on or off with your cell phone

Q: Can this security cover be used over the electronic door?
A: No, the PlexiDor Steel Security Cover cannot be used on the PlexiDor Electronic dog door. The manual PlexiDor dog door with the saloon style panels has rivet nuts on the frame for the Steel Security Cover to screw to the frame. There are no rivet nuts on the PlexiDor Electronic dog door frame. The Steel Security Cover is not necessary on the PlexiDor Electronic unit because the closing panel is always down and locked with a 1/4 inch steel rod when not actively opening.
Q: Can I remotely open the PDE with a smart plug and Alexa or Google Home?
A: The answer to this question is: Sort of. Let us explain: The PlexiDor Electronic dog door will only open for the RFID collar tag. The dog door has to be receiving power in order to operate. So you can use a smart plug or Alexa or Google Home to turn the power to the dog door on or off. You can't just turn on the dog door and make it open or close remotely. The RFID collar tag is what activates the dog door to open. For example, if you want to be able to drive out of your yard and close the gate behind you without the dogs running out, you can use your smart plug app to deny power to the dog door. Then when you are out the gate and it is closed, you can use your smart plug app to turn the power back on and the dogs can then use the dog door to go out in the yard. Give us a call at 800-749-9609 to get further explanation if needed.
Q: No
A: Yes, you can install the PlexiDor awning accessory on stucco. Be sure to use a concrete drill bit to minimize chipping. You may have to start with a concrete drill bit to get through the stucco and then change to a wood drill bit if there is wood behind the stucco. After you have attached the awning to the stucco wall, put a bead of caulk around the edge of the awning to stop water from getting behind the awning.
Q: Can I install in a cement block wall? anything I should worry about?
A: Yes, you can install the PlexiDor Wall Unit dog door into a cement block wall. The only thing to be careful with before starting is to check both sides of the wall to avoid electrical outlets and plumbing. An exterior visual check is not a guarantee. We recommend you cut a 4 inch by 4 inch test hole through the dry wall first to take a peek in the wall to be sure you don't have any surprises getting in the way. We have a video on our website to show an example of an install in a cement block wall. Here is that link: https://plexidors.com/videos/block-wall-installation-of-plexidor-dog-door/
