A: The PlexiDor contest where one lucky winner will get 1,000 lbs of dog food delivered to their door or to their favorite rescue has been featured in August edition of the Pet Business magazine.     If you haven't entered the contest yet, doing so is fun and easy. All you have to do is submit a photo of your dog using any dog door. First prize is 1,000 lbs of dog food. Runners up win Dunkin Donuts gift cards.

A: Right now, there is a fun contest on the PlexiDor Facebook page. Answer a simple question and you can win a handmade drawing of your dog breed along with a bottle of Deidre's K9 Naturals shampoo. The drawing will be in the style below of the breed of your choice. The shampoo is made in the USA with ingredients from the USA.

A: The Herald Tribune recently reported on PlexiDor Pet Doors. The paper tells the history of the company and the doors, mentioning the special K9 Composite panels specifically designed to be sturdy and seal weather out. The article also quotes Barbara Cook who houses six Weimaraner show dogs. "I would have never put in a door if I hadn't seen this one," she said. "It gets a lot of use, that's for sure." A: The new PlexiDor Dealer Catalog is available now. The 20 page publication is geared towards resellers and contains information about all PlexiDor pet doors and accessories. It is complete with size charts and visual aids on measuring dogs to find the correct size door. A: Crufts takes place at the NEC in Birmingham, UK, and it is the world's largest dog show. It is considered a national institution, and has been in existence since 1891. In 2013, 149,500 dog lovers attended. Crufts is a dog show, but also a big shopping and entertainment event that celebrates every aspect of the role dogs play in our lives. There are awards for working dogs, and portions dedicated to rescue dogs. Under 12s go free. Dogs cannot visit unless they are registered assistance dogs, or invited by the Kennel Club. The event takes place March 6-9 2014 from 8:15 to 19:30, and PlexiDors will be there. Come and visit us at stand 4-24!

A: The PlexiDor Extra Large was recently featured in Sarasota Pet, a Florida magazine for pet lovers.  The extra large PlexiDor dog door accommodates the largest dog breeds, such as Irish Wolfhounds, Newfoundlands, and St Bernards. It is usually difficult to find dog doors large enough for these breeds, and the dog doors must be very sturdy to stand up to a dog this size hitting it at a run. The PlexiDor dog doors are perfect for very large breeds since the hardened aluminum frame won't bend, warp, crack, or rust. The panels are made from the same specially formulated K9 Composit as on the smaller size PlexiDor pet doors, but on the extra large each panel is lined by a chew proof aluminum trim that also provides extra strength to the door. A: The easy to install PlexiDor awning prevents rain, sun, and snow from entering through a pet door.  The pet door awnings are made from durable aluminum with a baked-on finish. They are available in white or bronze, and make a perfect accessory for all PlexiDor pet doors. Awnings are not designed for installation on glass. The small awning is 12" wide and 8" deep. The medium awning is 16" wide and 12" deep. The large awning is 23 1/4" wide and 16 5/8" deep.

A: BarkWorld Expo is a yearly event held in Atlanta, GA, and the city greeted visitors with sunshine and friendly people. This year's conference took place at the Westin Buckhead, and the hotel had prepared with water bowls in strategic places as well as a huge basket of dog treats. The PlexiDor booth showed the medium and large dog doors, and visitors were treated to the 2014 PlexiDor calendar. One of the high points of the conference was a mascot attempting to crawl through the door. The costume head was too big for the large door, but with an extra large he might have made it. Visitors appreciate the tough panels that never need replacement, the added security through lock and key, and the steel security plate. A large number of visitors also showed interest in mounting a PlexiDor pet door in glass. Amongst notable guests were Norman the Scooter Dog – world record holder – who showed off his abilities to ride a scooter and a bike, famous dog trainer Victoria Stilwell, and Matt Silverman from Mashable. The program contained a tight schedule with useful information for both bloggers and brands. Other activities included baking for dogs and painting dog bowls. Who knew painting a bowl could be so difficult? Besides PlexiDor Pet Doors, a number of brands were represented. Some examples are BePawsitive, who offers pet lovers an opportunity to gladden not only their own pets, but also those in shelters. The company sells dog treats, and for every box bought, one is donated to a shelter. Natural Balance were present, offering samples and a contest. Petbrosia makes pet food tailored to each pet's unique needs; owners supply information about the pet such as breed, weight, energy level, and allergies, and the company makes food with the ultimate blend for the pet! Another interesting company is TagaPet, who offers a way to track pets through QR codes, no monthly subscription needed. The conference was a good experience, and we look forward to returning in 2014. The BarkWorld mascot might have needed a bigger door...
