Sliding Track: Features and Benefits
PlexiDor dog doors size large, medium, and extra large are delivered with a steel security plate that screws onto the pet door frame. The plate is a great tool for securing the home, and for signaling to pets that the door is locked. Using the sliding tracks, it takes seconds to mount the plate.
Simply attach the left and right tracks to the interior frame, and slide the steel security plate down the track into place. The tracks attach to the dog door’s interior frame using just a screw driver, and the security plate slides down to its optimal position.
Secure the plate with the handy flip lock feature and you’re finished. The tracks are made of strong and durable aluminum, and they’re available in silver, white, or bronze in sizes medium, large or extra large.
Hardware for track installation is included, but not the security plate itself.

Using the security plate to manage when pets are allowed to go out is a real nuisance without this accessory – that said the price is hard to stomach. It’s disappointing that this isn’t a standard item. I don’t mind paying for quality, but this feels like being taken to the cleaners for the cost of correcting a bad design.

Doug the tracks are an item that we added about 6 years ago so people would have the option to slide the cover in
We do not include the tracks with the Plexidor because some customers will not use the tracks and prefer not to pay extra for the add on
In the 20 + years of the Plexidor’s history, many dog owners did not use the cover at all, or only when they went away for an extended period of time. For shorter periods, the locking panels provide the extra security they needed. So, when using the key lock for security all you need is a sign so the dogs do not run at a locked Plexidor. For example, a ribbon or a even he cover leaning on the Plexidor lets the dog know the door is locked and your house is secure.

We absolutely love the convenience and strength of the “large sliding track”. The only regret was that we didn’t buy it sooner!
